Fall Camping

The weather over the weekend was perfection -- temperatures in the 60's and 70's during the day with the sun shining and 50's and 60's overnight.  We decided the best way to take advantage of such a gift was to head for Hillsdale State Park.  One last camping trip before it gets too cold and I get too pregnant!

Our outdoor-loving girl was in her element helping Papa with the tent and grill, riding in her hiking pack and, most of all, finding and tossing hedge apples.

We hiked the trails and read good books...

feasted on local sausages and cabbage and potatoes cooked in foil packets over the campfire -- the latter with green chiles and cheddar cheese (!) ...

tossed a line in the water and saw a spectacular sunset...

and slept fairly peacefully in our tent filled with hand-me-down quilts.

It was so nice to get out into nature away from our routine and enjoy some quality family time.  This was the number one activity on my Fall Bucket List.  I hope you loved your weekend just as much as we loved ours!
